Sorry I missed posting yesterday. I just got caught up in other things and before I knew it the day was done! I do want to share the birthday card I made for my mother. Her actual birthday was yesterday so I waited to give her the card until then. Funny thing, yesterday was my brother's youngest daughter's 18th birthday and his oldest daughter had her second son yesterday! So my mother has a granddaughter and great-grandson born on the same day as her birthday!
I pinned this card a long time ago, from Splitcoast Stampers, anticipating a birthday card for my mother at some point. I can't find my pin and I can't locate it on Splitcoast either. I wanted to link to it and I promise I didn't dream it up! I've spent too much time looking for it again and I need to move on!
The card on Splitcoast was inspired by another card, each of them are a little different. I didn't have any chicken wire stamps so I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit for part of the background. What do you do when you no longer have Hearts Framelits, Full Heart Punch or Heart to Heart punch available. I went to my Silhouette and then to My Digital Studio where I could import those to the Silhouette and cut them out in whatever size I needed. My fence was another download from the Silhouette Design Store. The grass is a Lawn Fawn Die. The little sunflowers are from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I thought the garden pick from Handpicked Framelits was a perfect spot to put the "90". I put it on her table to find this morning and she loved it…which is always the goal!
I signed the inside of the card before I remembered to take a picture! I just used the Heart Border Punch to punch a row of hearts along the top of the inside and put a piece of Real Red card stock behind it.
I have a few pictures from her party to share with you. I'll start with the invitation I created on My Digital Studio and ordered before MDS retired.
My mother has always loved chickens and roosters so that's where I got the theme "You're Something to Crow About"! And yes, my maiden name was Todd! :)
Here's what I made for the front door of our clubhouse, where we held the party.
That's seven full sheets of 12" x 12" Designer Paper. Checks are hard to find!
A few decorations… This is one of the tables we used and there's a matching one on the other side of the door. It held snacks. I used a retired banner kit and made two rosettes for each of them. All the roosters were cut on my Silhouette. We used fresh sunflowers and zinnias, which my daughter picked at a farm on her way down Friday, to sit around in Ball jars.
The cake decorator did an amazing job! We decided on a 6" cake as the centerpiece and then sunflower cupcakes to serve. A good friend of mine helped me all day long and she suggested we set it up like Cupcake Wars and pack it all on one table at different levels. Do you recognize the table paper? Retired wrapped paper from the 2014 Holiday Catalog! My daughter suggested folding this into a point and adding one of the rosettes.
Every party needs a favor! What else but Rooster cookies?
Here's a picture of my mother and myself.
There you have it! I've been trying to re-group. I haven't even left my house this week and it's been nice. I wish I had the picture of my mother's face on Friday night when my aunts, her sisters, surprised her. My cousin captured it and it's priceless! Goal accomplished! I'm off to work on getting my stamp clubs organized for next week. It's our last one for this session. :) Have a great Thursday! - Dawn
