I'm so glad you're hopping with The Stamp Review Crew hop this week. I hope you find some inspiration to use with your Hearts a Flutter stamp set and coordinating framelits.
You've probably come here from Tanya Boser's blog at Tinkerin in Ink With Tanya. I know you enjoyed her Hearts a Flutter project today. She always has something fun to share. If you happen to get off track there's a full hop list at the bottom of this post.
My project today is a "semi-wreath" I made two years ago. I didn't even have this blog back then so I'm sure not many of you have seen it. It was on my demonstrator blog though. I re-vamped the wreath by using the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and the coordinating framelits. The colors in the wreath were also updated. I pulled out all the Pretty in Pink (retired) and replaced it with a fresh new color, Strawberry Slush. Take a look....
I loved making this heart shaped wreath two years ago and I had fun giving it a fresh look this year. I started by removing the old Blushing Bride Poly-stitch ribbon (remember that?) and replaced it with the trendy Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon. The base of the wreath is chipboard covered with a Sticky Sheet (retired). The Blossom Punch was used to punch hundreds of blossoms in Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red and now Strawberry Slush. The fibers were broken down in each blossom by using my Bone Folder and rolling them over and over the edge of it until I was able to separate the layers. Then the two layers were stacked, with Glue Dots to hold the blossom together "fuzzy" side up. I used hot glue to re-stick them to the heart. They're put in there tightly to give it a good full look. The original plan was to put a Hearts a Flutter banner completely across the heart but it just didn't look right. I cut the banner short and strung it on Silver Baker's Twine (new in the Occasions Catalog). Hot glue holds it tightly on the top of the wreath. Minor adjustments, using new product and Hearts a Flutter have given this Valentine wreath new life.
The hardest part of this re-vamp was the photography. Dreary days didn't do much for these colors. In the end, I took the picture where the wreath hangs in my foyer. I had to take my Ott Light downstairs and it's still on the dark side. I've taken a couple extra shots in hopes that you'll be able to get a better idea of the banner and colors. The top center heart was stamped in Silver Metallic Encore ink. The small love banner is a Sneak Peek of a Sale-a-bration stamp set, Banner Blast. The coordinating Banner punch (also in the Sale-a-bration) made this image hard to resist using!
This shot gives a better picture of how the wreath built.
I'm the last stop on this week's hop and if you've just started here then you need to hop up to Yapha Mason at Rubber Stamping and Card-Making with Yapha. She has an awesome Hearts a Flutter idea for you today.
